And the winner is...Kill Dozer!  But we won second and this snowboard silver bullet.  Julie a Winter Park Police officer and myself a Local with DUI accessories.  We were later offered a trade with the winners prize, a "trip to Vegas", which included no hotel or flight, just gambling money.  Our friends and consultants pushed us towards just keeping the snowboard.  So we did.

Grand County Rain!

Dsc_7385

These clouds finally darkened and rained yesterday evening.  Yes, this was the first rain of Winter Park this spring.  All of our rain showers have been the frozen white stuff until now.  As they say Spring snow melt brings Summer flowers; or something corny like that.

SAN JUAN BOMB - Fly Fishing the Colorado River

Trout_2 Hotsulpher_3

Polebend_2
Spent some time on the water today just outside of Hot Sulpher Springs.  Using a San Juan worm I was able to connect with over a dozen trout in 2 hours.  The water is still quite fast and murky due to the snow melt,
but I have found a spot on the Colorado River where I know I can go and catch fish realitively easily.  My largest was a strong 17 inch brown, that I reluctently admit struck the fly as I was getting ready to cast again.  Taking photos while fishing although tricky, is definately worth it after looking at what I got today.

It's Official!

Most people probably won't understand, and it may not be epic.  But, for all those transplants out there or the ones who dream of it...you do.

[Notice the tie-dye poking out love]

Thanks to everyone who sent me birthday wishes.  Have a happy weekend.

Who needs gasoline?

Living in Winter Park has allowed Julie and I to almost live with out needing a car.  We both havDsc_5624_2e our
own bikes, one with a slightly more comfortable seat (see photo) and when raining or too cold there is public transportation every 15 minutes.  Since we moved into town we have discovered bike trails leading in both directions just feet from our door step.  Whether it be going to the grocery store, out for dinner, a ride to the beer store, bank deposits, a laundry day, visiting a local watering hole, getting to work, or meeting up with Fred Meyers, we can go there on two wheels.Dsc_6088

Moving from the East Coast where bicycle trails are scarce and priority is usually given to louder faster transportation, it can still take a conscious effort to saddle the bikes.  But with a little bit of experience you prevent cold hands and heads by keeping a few extra articles of clothing
in your bag.  And to everyone back home with temperatures in the 80's and above, all is not bad weather here.  We may still have snow on the ground but here's a 6 day forcast I don't think I ever saw back in PA.

Moving Day

 MooooseFox_2

After spending three days at the Blue Spruce Motel in Granby, Julie and I finally moved into our permanent apartment in Winter Park.  After a few hours our apartment is already feeling like home with Rolling Rock in the fridge, Doritos in the pantry and Easter candy set out in a dish courtesy of Miss Juliana Miller.  The photos  below are from the past day or so.  The fox was seen a few days ago and the moose yesterday.  The  Blue Spruce sign has some entertaining ammenities and the local thrift store does not have very regular hours.  Oh and that's Juls with some giant iscicles.  Our laundry is done so I will update more tomorrow.

A New Home

Hello Everyone-

Julie and I have finally begun to settle down here in Winter Park, Colorado.  We have been here almost a month and will be moving into our new condo tomorrow.  Most of you know (anyone who would read this) what Neighborswe have been up to, so I won't bore you with old news.

New news is that we now have our own Post Office Box in Winter Park and if anyone needs to send us mail USPS they can send it to.

P.O. Box 800
Winter Park, CO 80482-0800

If you want to send Fedex or UPS you can send it to

Hi Country Haus
Building 3 Unit 12
Winter Park, Co 80482

We also saw a our first fox yesterday running through Tabernash as we were driving to town, our moose count is now at two since travelling to the Rocky Mountain National Park the other day, and our Magpie count is probably somewhere around 300.

Julie went skiing for her first time yesterday on a sunny 45 degree day here and did great.  Although a little sore today, she thinks she'll atleast give it another try before the season is over.

PHOTO:  Took this photo of some mule deer that we visit a few nights a week.  Every night we can find dozens of deer in the same spot grazing their way up the mountain.
