Denver Scouting

CapitalDome

Spent today scouting some new locations to shoot in and around the Denver area with Erick Zimmat.  The weather and lighting left something to be desired, but I ended up with this gem of the Capital Building's Dome.  Next weekend I'll be shooting from some of my new locations, hopefully mother nature will be more cooperative.

The Weekend Commute - Berthoud Pass, CO

UncommonCommons-10

I have been looking to photograph Berthoud Pass and it's winding route, at night, in all it's glory.  This is one of the first locations I found, that was able to convey the traffic that flows over the pass from Denver every weekend.  Unfortunately clouds moved in as the sun began to set and did not give me the cobalt blue sky I was looking to achieve.  Timing is everything for a shot like this, 10 minutes earlier is too bright, 10 minutes later too dark.  I'll be fine tuning this shot for sure.

Hidden Hut

Hiddenhut1000

The hidden huts/smoke shelters/hideouts of Winter Park are many, if you know where to look.  Almost everyone is invisible to the eye from the lift or cut trail, even if you know where they are.  Here's a virtual tour of a hidden hut between two heavily traveled trails on the Winter Park side of the resort.  CLICK HERE TO VIEW > RIGHT CLICK AND SAVE TO VIEW FULL SCREEN.

Look for more of these hidden places, in an upcoming series, as we plan to produce the up and coming driver/free hut.

NORTH CONE Panoramic

CLICK HERE to download the Virtual Tour of North Cone Panoramic
, complete with sound track by Howie Day.  Today was a beautiful and balmy 50 degree sunny day here in Winter Park.  While the Northeast was covered in snow, the West has been enjoying temperatures well above average with plenty of snow to slide on.

Lenticular Cloud - Byers Peak

Sunsetcloud

Having my camera back from NIKON has been great, being able to capture moments like this.  Although, I did notice that there were a few specks of dust on the view finder plate which was supposed to have been replaced.  No problems with the sensor or image quality which was the main reason for servicing.  NIKON's servicing departments clean and check for only $40 may have been too good to be true, but as long as my sensor and images aren't effected, it was well worth it.
